Our Geldings:

As of 8/3/07 we have a new gelding - solid black with a medium size star - named Gotta Go.  We pick him up this Sunday so will post pictures sometime next week.

Gotta Go was started in harness a couple of years ago by Tina Porter (now from Texas) but he has not driven since then. Tina is an outstanding amateur driver who puts a fabulous "soft mouth" and "fast response to your aids" on her driving prospects.

Gotta Go is a good mover with knee action, hock action and good reach. He may end up being my new CDE and ADT horse.

Here are 4 pictures (not so good) of Gotta Go on his 2nd time hitched -- the ground was slippery and he was working on a hill -- having a little problem with the cart -- in his winter woolies in early December 2007.

Please note: His ears are NOT pinned back -- he has such long hair you can't tell they are swiveled back to "listen" to me -- he was very confused by the footing and the action of the cart on the britching while he was going down hill. Its been too muddy and rainy to drive him again since this outing --- will post more pics when we are really driving.

Platinum:

Click here to see Platinum's Pedigree

AMHA/AMHR Ten Ls Destinys Double Platinum Platinum is a chocolate silver gelding. He is the sire of one of our mares - Js FHF Platinum Ice Storm .

Platinum is a son of Alvadar's Double Destiny. It is possible that he carries the champagne gene as well as the silver gene, the agouti gene and possibly a creme gene.. as I am told that Double Destiny carries all of these.

Platinum is currently the only miniature that we have trained to drive.

In 2006 we participated in a couple of recreational drives with the Spokes and Spurs driving club and participated in the ADS National Drive at the Kentucky Horse Park in October 2006 (that was fabulous!).

Over Labor Day weekend 2006 we competed in our first CDE in Indiana. We had a super time - but were eliminated at the water obstacle. Go to our webpage ICDE to see pictures - you can tell we are rank beginners but it was oh so much fun.

For 2007 I hope to participate in the Spokes and Spurs Schooling show, the Indiana Play Day and the National Drive in October. We also will participate in several recreational drives -- So much fun planned for the year! --

Double Troubles Dusty Moonlight

Dusty is a 1999 grey gelding AMHR - Unfortunately he has 2 locking stifles - we are told he can still be used for driving. He does best with 24 hour turnout - and not terribly well with stall/roundpen time only. When he is not "locked up" he has a beautiful bouncy trot that make him look like a little warmblood. No matter what, he has a home with us.

Js FHF Legend (aka Leggs) - gelded 3/24/07

AMHR: LEGEND  -- AMHA: Js FHF LEGEND (aka Leggs) (dna'd) 2004 Dark Bay/Brown gelding turning gray. Should mature around 33 - 34". His sire is Sage's Bullett  Buckeroo Champagne -32" Buckskin now deceased - His dam is Vermilyea Farms Ultimate Star - 30 1/2" gray mare now deceased (see her on our mare's page)

Leggs is a lovely mover (bouncy trot with lots of reach and nice hock/knee action) - I plan to train him to drive in 2007 and hope to compete with him in local ADS driving shows in 2008.

We decided to geld him this past weekend. We like how he looks (although he is not anywhere near conformationally perfect) and love how he moves -- then he has this mysterious dry skin/strange shedding pattern itch in the spring where he rubs himself naked on his neck and chest -- sooo  that made us decide gelding  was the very best option.

He is healing up nicely -- when he is healed I will begin introducing him to the harness and round pen/long line work.

The photo of Leggs as a foal was taken when he was 1 day old - these other 3 photos were taken September 10, 2006 - straight out of the field (not really groomed either) and he is getting in his winter coat already. Look how much he is already graying out -- he had a small star on his forehead when he was foaled - now it is a big one - and he now has some white near the coronary band of his left front. Fun to watch the changes.
